I went to and worked at the same day camp where I grew up from age 2 to age 18.  I then worked on various teen tours and pre-college programs.

My home bunk

My husband and I have one teenage son heading into his 8th summer at camp.  He has been attending since age 7 and loves every minute of it!

Why I feel camp is a valuable experience

Kids learn things at camp that they don't learn at home or at school.  I call it the "third leg" of child rearing.  They learn how to make choices and how those choices make them feel inside without us parents standing behind them giving a wink or nod.  It is also a wonderful time for parents to re-learn what life is like without kids at home and prepare for when the empty nest may come.
